Affordable and the fact that a “lifetime” license option exists is great… so you don’t have to worry about a monthly payment for the remainder of your organization’s life. I recently bought a lifetime license to Brilliant Directories on behalf of a nonprofit organization I am involved with. It is the second time I bought this software for a nonprofit. My experience each time made me confident that the company provides excellent services, good training and tutorials, and on top of that is in a range of affordability even for new nonprofit organizations. And there is almost unlimited growth with this system, so an organization is not boxing itself in by choosing a less expensive system which they will have to replace as they grow. Brilliant Directories should be able to take any organization or business as far “down the road” as they choose to go.

It’s an incredible platform for the money comparable with DB’s costing many times more. The articles, embedding, galleries and contact are good and flexible. Accessing code gives one the ability to enhance the articles and it’s easy if you know code html5, embedding iFrame and jScript. Opens it right up. I can experiment launching a business with a professional package without risking a lot of capital.
The software is very easy to use and customize. Its a best in class product. It has great features and I am looking forward for future products. Simplicity – I found it very easy to use which reduced my time.

For years, I’ve been prodding around Drupal, WordPress and Typo3 to find software that would let me, a one-man-band, build efficient, good-looking, easy-to-build, directory-type web sites. I was never convinced with other software that I wasn’t getting into something over my head and getting snarled in a coding jungle where I’d have to have a specialist to hack my way and get me to what I wanted. Then, one day I stumbled (found) Brilliant Directories on a Google search. And the rest is history. Brilliant Directories’s ease of use, escaping coding and fiddling in WordPress, and its ready-built structures and flexible themes—these are all reasons for me buying BD. The team at BD were very helpful during the whole decision making process. They answered all of our questions and were patient with us as we tried to determine whether BD would work for us in our search for a way to transition our 12 year directory website to something better. The platform has good tools for establishing pricing packages and member features. It also has email templates for communicating with members. Another great monetization feature is the Lead Generation tool. I also like the availability of a Developer Marketplace where I can find developers who are familiar with the platform and can customize my website the way I want it. My “Customer Success Agent” (sales agent) was very nice to work with, and she (“CJ”) spent 1.5 hours on the phone with me explaining the capabilities of the software and getting me comfortable with the purchase. I’ll be getting more familiar with software as I populate and customize my directory, but I’ve had a good experience so far.
It is so easy to use & very customizable. The fact they don’t promote themselves on my site is a really good touch.

An excellent product.
Clean interface right out of the box. We have developed a few projects for clients in the directory business, with a lot of hard coding and various WP plugins, but can be tedious to piecemeal things, and clients want easy, simple tools to use, and it has to look really nice aesthetically. BD has done a great job with their overall look and feel of the system. If anyone wants to try their hand at a small business with not a lot of cash outflow at first, this is a great way to test the idea. Keep up the nice work BD.
I researched, I spent hours trying out demos and (like many other reviewers) I went for a WP option. BIG mistake. I wasted so many months trying to make my bad choice work – but you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear (quaint English saying). Throughout it all, I kept coming back to BD – drooling over what they offered. And, at last, here I am – right where I should have started. I don’t want you to make the BIG mistake that I did and I don’t want you to waste so much time – like I did.
WP is a wonderful CMS but it isn’t the best choice for a Directory site. I can say this because I’ve tried it… and tried it… Specifics? Plugins don’t always offer what you want to achieve and some of those that look helpful make WP buggy. Not impressive to potential customers.
BD are experts in their field and so, at last, I can create the Directory that I vizualised in my head, offer the best to my customers and add value to my website.
Pro’s: Their customer service is superb so I feel supported and part of a really good team.
Cons: I just wish I’d made the right choice months ago.

The first Brilliant Directories website was our own. In 2009, we took an idea we believed in and built software for it from the ground up. The idea was to build a directory website of interior designers and build an empire around it. But there was a problem: the software we found seemed to work against our ambitions at every turn. Back then, the options for directory software were unreliable plugins or expensive custom development. It was incredibly expensive, unnecessarily complex, and frighteningly unstable to combine random plugins.
Existing directory software did not have the features we needed and were not solutions we could rely on. Furthermore, as young entrepreneurs with basically no budget, we didn’t have a lot of money to invest in expensive development, so we rejected those options and created our own. Our custom software met our needs so well that we decided to take everything we learned and shifted our business away from the interior designer directory and towards fixing the glaring hole in the directory software market. We knew that we weren’t the only ones looking for a better directory software, and there needed to be an option to support the needs of start-ups and established organizations. We set out to create the software that we wished would have existed, and we launched it in 2010 under the name Brilliant Directories.
